Football’s bracket date comes first
Cape and Islands high-school sports followers have two different tournament calendars to watch over the next fortnight. The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association’s 2026 football page lists Saturday, October 31 as the regular-season cutoff, followed by the bracket release on Sunday, November 1. Tournament play is scheduled to begin Friday, November 6.
Those are statewide calendar dates. They do not establish whether a particular local school has qualified, who it will play, or where its first game will take place. Use the published bracket to settle those questions once it is available.
Soccer follows later in the week
For both boys’ and girls’ soccer, the MIAA lists Tuesday, November 3 as the cutoff and Thursday, November 5 as the bracket-release date. Both tournaments are scheduled to begin Friday, November 6. The soccer page says the tournament dates can change.
That leaves a short interval between the planned soccer bracket release and the opening day. Families considering a trip can reserve time in the calendar now, then confirm the actual fixture before making travel commitments. A tournament start date is not a scheduled kickoff for every participating team.
Check the year, division and host
The MIAA’s tournament-brackets portal is the next stop once the releases arrive. Select the correct sport, division, season and year; the portal also carries older competitions. Then check the named host school’s athletics schedule for the venue and game time. If the two official listings disagree, wait for a confirmed update before setting out.
Keep the dates in this briefing as reminders to check, rather than treating them as local fixtures. The football page did not provide a settled state-finals date when checked, and the soccer finals were also listed as undetermined. This calendar briefing was checked on October 24 Eastern time; it contains no projected seedings or match results.
