Council adoption and the next review
The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe reports that its Tribal Council adopted the 2026 hazard-mitigation update on October 7. Its November 1 account says citizen comments and revisions will be considered as coordination continues with FEMA Region 1. The October 8–16 public review period has ended.
What the update covers
Building on the 2020 plan, the update considers winter weather, coastal storms and risks to housing, essential services and cultural resources. It also draws on the February 2026 blizzard.
The Tribe says the planning supports eligibility for applicable mitigation assistance, subject to program requirements and approvals. It does not announce a grant award or completed federal approval. Emergency Management Director Nelson Andrews Jr. can answer questions at 508-681-9754.
