A New Schedule Period Starts Friday
The Steamship Authority’s published Martha’s Vineyard timetable changes on Friday, October 23, 2026. Its current schedule runs through Thursday, October 22; the next covers October 23 through January 5, 2027. We checked the operator’s schedule page and linked final timetables on October 21. If you are heading over before Friday and coming back afterward, open the schedule for each leg rather than using one screenshot for the whole trip.
Put The Terminal On Your Itinerary
The next timetable is headed Woods Hole–Vineyard Haven. Use that island terminal when arranging a pickup or looking up an onward connection; an Oak Bluffs arrival remembered from a summer visit is not a substitute for the terminal printed on your trip. This update concerns the Steamship Authority’s Vineyard service. Nantucket has its own timetable, and other ferry operators publish their own routes and seasonal dates.
Work Backward From Boarding
For a car-free trip, leave room between reaching Falmouth and boarding in Woods Hole. The operator’s travel notes say ferry-passenger parking is off-site, with a shuttle to the terminal. Its published guidance recommends reaching the parking lot an hour before departure and asks walk-on travelers to arrive at the terminal 30 minutes before sailing. Travelers taking a vehicle must be checked in at least 30 minutes before departure. Read the operator’s full instructions for your booking; these timings are planning guidance, not a promise that space will be available.
Check Operations Again On Travel Day
A published timetable tells you the planned service. It does not confirm that an individual trip is operating or that a vehicle reservation is available. Check the Steamship Authority’s current-status page before setting out, and keep your return arrangements handy. For an island day, settle the return crossing and your route back to the terminal before adding another stop. Our car-free Vineyard guide below helps connect that ferry decision with the rest of the visit.
