A new exhibition about an island wartime episode

Martha’s Vineyard Museum’s new exhibition, Fleeced! An American Revolution Story, opened October 25, 2026 and is scheduled through May 9, 2027. It occupies the Hollinshead, Cox and Fleischner galleries at the museum in Vineyard Haven.

The exhibition focuses on Grey’s Raid in September 1778, when British forces took livestock and supplies from the island. The museum describes play, interactive activities and video for children, alongside archival documents that allow adults and teenagers to examine the history in more detail. This is an account of the museum’s announced exhibition, rather than a review of a visit.

Use the winter hours, including holiday exceptions

The museum’s current visitor page lists Tuesday–Sunday hours of 10 a.m.–4 p.m. from early October through late May, with the last tickets sold 30 minutes before closing. It closes Mondays, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

General admission is $21 for adults, $18 for seniors and $7 for ages 7–17; children six and younger enter free. The page also lists lower year-round islander rates and other admission programs. Check which rate applies before paying.
