Testing supports the town’s fire assessment
Brewster plans fire-flow tests at 20 locations beginning Wednesday, November 4, 2026, with completion expected Friday, November 6. Water Department technicians are working with the Fire Department to supply information for an assessment by the Insurance Service Office.
The November 3 notice says the findings will inform Brewster’s Public Protection Classification. It describes possible insurance savings from an improved rating, without promising a lower bill for any household.
Where to report discolored water
The town says hydrant use can disturb iron and discolor water. Its instructions are to run the water until clear and call 508-896-5454 if discoloration persists. After hours, call Brewster Police at 508-896-7011 so a technician can be notified.
The notice gives a townwide testing window, without a street-by-street timetable.
