Two projects to account for on Monday

Barnstable has published two roadwork notices that matter for trips into and around Hyannis next week. The October 23 updates describe work scheduled to begin or continue on Monday, October 26. Downtown construction is covered by a weekly notice for October 26–30; the separate Mary Dunn Road paving job is expected to run longer. Treat the dates as the town’s work plan, with weather and conditions on the ground able to change it.

Downtown: lane restrictions at several locations

The Great Streets notice gives working hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Crews are scheduled around the Six-Points junction of South Street, Old Colony Road and Ocean Street, where drainage and utility work supports the future roundabout. Drainage work also continues at Main Street and South Street, while crews build accessible curb ramps at locations along Main Street.

The town anticipates intermittent lane closures. Its notice does not anticipate road closures for that week, but that is a dated construction forecast, not a promise of an unrestricted drive. Existing traffic signals at Six-Points are to remain operating until the replacement road layout is fully operational.

Mary Dunn Road: a separate paving window

The Mary Dunn Road notice schedules final paving for the water-main replacement project, starting October 26. The affected stretch is near the Route 6 bridge through Airport Way. Work is planned from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an estimated three-week duration, weather permitting. Temporary lane restrictions will allow alternating traffic through a single lane, directed by traffic personnel. This is a different schedule from the downtown weekly update.

Before a timed appointment or pickup

Check which project lies on your route and leave some flexibility around the published work hours. A trip that crosses both areas may encounter both work zones. Follow the posted directions at each location rather than relying on a familiar turn remaining available.
