Choose the Terminal and the Return Date First

Leaving a car for an overnight trip requires a lot that covers the full stay and a usable route to the right departure point. Hyannis Transportation Center serves bus travellers; Steamship Authority and Hy-Line have different ferry terminals and parking arrangements. The operator pages below were checked November 3, 2026. Space, rates and the lot in use still need checking for the actual trip.

Write down both dates, the expected return time and whether a delayed return would add another parking day. A per-calendar-day charge is different from a charge for each rolling 24-hour period. Do not use a short-term town space as an overnight substitute simply because its daytime price is low.

HTC: Public Long-Term Lots Beside the Bus Center

CCRTA’s two long-term lots at Hyannis Transportation Center, 1 Transportation Avenue, offer daily, weekly and four-consecutive-week parking. Pay at the kiosk in the chosen long-term lot. Stays exceeding four consecutive weeks require a request at the center’s information booth. The operator directs customers staying more than 10 hours away from its short-term lot.

For September 15–December 14, CCRTA lists $10 for one day, $60 for seven days and $240 for 28 days. December 15–March 31 rates are $5, $30 and $120 respectively. Confirm how your arrival and return times are charged at the kiosk; the table does not define its daily period as a rolling 24 hours. The town’s general long-term-parking page quotes a flat $15 daily HTC price, while CCRTA supplies the season-specific table. Use the operating authority’s current table and verify the displayed charge.

This is parking at the bus center, not at a ferry boarding gate. CCRTA’s Hyannis Trolley runs Memorial Day–Labor Day, so it does not supply a November dock transfer. If you plan to walk from HTC to a ferry, check the actual route, crossings and luggage needs in advance, or arrange another confirmed connection. CCRTA’s number is 508-775-8504.

Steamship Authority: Check the Lot in Use

For Nantucket travel, Steamship Authority lists its Hyannis Main Lot at 65 South Street, Lewis Bay Road Lot at 65 Lewis Bay Road, Yarmouth Road Lot at 75 Yarmouth Road and Brooks Road Lot at 30 Brooks Road. Its ferry terminal address is 69 South Street. Dockside capacity is limited; the operator provides free transfers from its off-site lots. Check the live parking page or 508-775-7275 before driving to a particular lot.

The current parking table lists $15 per calendar day at all four Hyannis lots for November 1–December 14, falling to $10 for December 15–March 31. The rate on the entry date applies throughout the stay. Thus a November 3 arrival and November 4 departure touch two calendar days: the posted-rate calculation is $30, subject to the actual ticket and charges.

The FAQ explains that an ungated lot still requires payment: tell the attendant the number of calendar days or parts of days and pay in advance, keeping the receipt. Extra days incur additional charges, and the operator warns that a vehicle left beyond its paid period may be towed. The reviewed parking page does not publish a general maximum stay or payment-card list. Confirm an extended stay and the accepted payment method with the parking office before leaving the car; the parking page gives 508-771-4000 for Hyannis enquiries.

Hy-Line: The Off-Site Shuttle Has a November Gap

For Hy-Line’s on-site parking, go to its terminal parking gazebo at 220 Ocean Street. Reserved parking is added to a ferry booking; the operator directs arriving drivers to the lot then in use. Its off-site location is 183 Iyannough Road, with 33 Brooks Road used for overflow at peak demand. Off-site parking bought on the day can be paid at the terminal or at a lot kiosk; those kiosks accept credit or debit cards only.

For October 14–November 23, the 2026 table lists $15 on-site and $10 off-site, per vehicle per calendar day. But the published daily off-site shuttle periods end October 25 and resume November 24–December 7. Do not plan a November 3–23 departure around an assumed shuttle. Before choosing the cheaper lot, ask the parking gazebo at 508-815-2221 how you would reach the terminal and return to the car. The page describes the off-site location as one mile away, without documenting a pedestrian route.

Hy-Line does not state a general maximum stay on the reviewed parking page. Specify both dates when booking and confirm any unusually long stay. If parking was omitted from an existing ferry booking, its FAQ directs customers to 508-778-0404 or 800-492-8082 to ask what can be added.

Keep Short-Term and Winter Rules Separate

Barnstable describes the 115 metered spaces beside Bismore Park as short-term parking, payable by credit card, coins or the town’s parking app. That description does not establish permission for an overnight ferry trip. Its public-way parking guidance also prohibits overnight street parking from 2–6 a.m.; this is not presented as a winter-only restriction. For a disputed sign or an unusual stay, Parking Management is 508-862-4673.

Before leaving any vehicle, read the lot’s signs for the paid period, snow operations, closures and retrieval instructions. The pages checked do not provide a single winter snow rule covering every lot. Ask the operator what to do if weather postpones the return, save the receipt and contact number, and arrange the extension before the paid stay expires. Being close to the harbour does not establish an open walking route, a running shuttle or permission to leave the car longer.
