Plan For A Weekday Detour
Drivers using Bumps River Road in Osterville should plan for a construction closure starting as early as Monday, November 2. In an October 27 notice, the Town of Barnstable says sewer work will resume between Osterville-West Barnstable Road and Pond Street.
The affected stretch will close during construction hours: approximately 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, subject to weather. The town says signs will direct traffic around the work and access for local residents and businesses will remain available.
Check Before Travelling
The work is part of the Route 28 West Sewer Expansion Project. Barnstable expects this portion to finish by the end of December; that is a projected completion, not a confirmed reopening date.
Allow time for the signed detour and check the town’s notice for updates before a trip. The notice links to project materials and provides a Department of Public Works contact for questions. It does not describe a round-the-clock closure.
