Two terms are on the ballot
Sandwich will hold its Historic District Committee election on Tuesday, November 24, 2026, at the Town Clerk’s Office, 100 Route 6A. One seat carries a four-year term; the other fills a two-year unexpired term. The town says both voters and candidates must live in the historic district.
Nomination papers are available from the Building Department at the same address. Absentee ballots will be available at the Town Clerk’s Office from November 12 until noon on November 23. The published notice does not give election-day polling hours or a nomination filing deadline; confirm those with the town before making arrangements.
The committee reviews the district’s appearance
The committee’s official page describes its work reviewing exterior building changes, signs and other construction for compatibility with Sandwich’s historic character. Four of its five members are elected district residents; the remaining member is an architect or builder appointed by the Select Board.
The district includes land north of Route 6’s centerline to Cape Cod Bay, extending between Bourne and Barnstable, and Sandwich’s bay-side land west of the canal. Consult the town about a particular address. Living somewhere in Sandwich does not by itself establish eligibility for this district election.
